On April 2, 2024, in an unanimous vote, the Lomita City Council confirmed the appointment of Andrew Vialpando as the new City Manager of Lomita, effective May 1, 2024. Mr. Vialpando brings over two decades of experience in local government, most recently serving as Assistant City Manager in Paramount since January 2020.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Vialpando to lead our city,” said Mayor Bill Uphoff. “His extensive background in local government will bring valuable insights and leadership to city staff to help best serve the Lomita community.”
Prior to his ACM role in Paramount, Mr. Vialpando served as Administrative Deputy to the City Manager in Long Beach, Senior Administrative Analyst and Administrative Analyst for City of La Mirada, in addition to prior roles with the cities of Santa Barbara and Santa Fe Springs.
Mr. Vialpando’s expertise spans various areas crucial to Lomita, including budgeting, economic development, community engagement and communications, capital improvement projects, human resources and organizational development.
“I am confident that Mr. Vialpando’s knowledge of local government and dedication to public service will greatly benefit our community,” said Mayor Bill Uphoff. “We look forward to working together to continue enhancing the quality of life for all Lomita residents.”
The City of Lomita would like to thank Interim City Manager Joe Hoefgen for his dedication in filling the City Manager position during the transition period following Ryan Smoot’s departure to the City of Bellflower.
