Join the City of Lomita for a FREE compost giveaway and shred event!

When: Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Where: Lomita City Hall (24300 Narbonne Ave.)

This event is for Lomita customers only. Proof of residency or an Athens account in Lomita is required.

Acceptable Items: Customers may bring up to three banker-sized boxes for shredding per household/account.

Not Acceptable Items: Hazardous waste will not be accepted (including paint, oil and motor oil, light bulbs, electronics, etc.)

Athens’ compost is a blend of organic materials, including green waste, wood waste and food scraps.* The compost is OMRI Listed® and licensed by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

*May contain small particles of glass.

Please note:

• Lomita customers only (ID or bill required)
• Bring a shovel and a sturdy container (self-service event)
• No plastic bags allowed
• While supplies last (30-gallon limit in the first hour)
• No container larger than 32 gallons (due to safety and weight concerns)
• Drive up only (no walk-ins)
• Gloves and eye protection are recommended

Participation in the event and all items accepted are at your own risk. It is the attendees’ responsibility to practice safe lifting and take all protective measures to guard against injury or any other loss.
