The City of Lomita is proud to announce that it has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 22nd consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award comes in recognition of Lomita’s Fiscal Year 2024-25 annual comprehensive financial report.
This prestigious designation is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. It reflects Lomita’s continued commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility and the prudent stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
“Lomita is honored to be recognized by the GFOA for the 22nd year in a row,” said Lomita City Manager Andrew Vialpando. “The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting reflects our commitment to sound fiscal management and our continued dedication to fiscal transparency.”
The recognition demonstrates the important financial stewardship of Lomita’s taxpayer dollars by the City. Maintaining high fiduciary standards fosters public trust and strengthens Lomita’s position when securing competitive grants and financing for critical infrastructure projects, park improvements and public safety initiatives.
In tandem with the City’s overall recognition, the GFOA also presented the Lomita Administrative Services Department with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement. This departmental honor recognizes the specific staff members who put in the daily effort to compile the successful report.
Behind the scenes, preparing the annual comprehensive financial report is a collaborative, multi-month endeavor requiring immense detail and coordination across all City departments. The achievement ultimately reflects the City Council’s ongoing policy direction to prioritize long-term fiscal stability, alongside the day-to-day dedication of Lomita’s finance team to maintain immaculate records and adhere to the nation’s highest accounting standards.
