Planning Division

We assist our residents and the general public with any inquiries related to zoning and land use at the Planning Counter during normal counter hours or via emails or phone calls. We also process development and land use applications such as new development, subdivisions, conditional use permits and small additions, and write staff reports for discretionary requests that require Planning Commission or City Council approval. We draft new zoning codes and prepare amendments to the General Plan.

The Building Safety Division reviews and verifies that construction projects are consistent with the Los Angeles County Building Code. The City has a contract with the Los Angeles County, Building and Safety Division for building plan check, permit issuance and building inspections.

Code Enforcement Division

The Code Enforcement Division assists our residents in achieving code compliance. We take calls from concerned neighbors regarding unauthorized construction or other work performed out of compliance with the City’s Municipal Code.

Development Impact Fee Transparency

In September of 2021, the California Legislature passed Assembly Bill (AB) 602 and the Governor signed it into law. AB 602 created new requirements for development impact fees that went into effect on January 1, 2022. Specifically, the new law amends Government Code Section 65940.1 and added Section 66016.5 to impose the reporting requirements on cities, counties and special districts.
