The City of Lomita has a new housing resources webpage! Check out information related to accessibility, homebuyer assistance programs, Section 8, fair housing, and energy conservation.
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) provides a wide range of housing resources focused on expanding access to safe, affordable housing across California. Its programs include funding initiatives (such as grants and loans) to support affordable housing development, homelessness prevention, rental assistance and homeownership opportunities, along with major efforts like Homekey to create housing for people experiencing homelessness. HCD also oversees housing policy and planning by requiring local governments to adopt “housing elements” that ensure communities plan for housing at all income levels, while offering data tools, reports and a statewide housing plan to track progress and guide decisions. Additional resources include support for mobilehome residents, building and safety standards, fair housing guidance and specialized programs for vulnerable populations such as veterans, tribal communities and people with disabilities. Overall, the site serves as a central hub for housing programs, policy guidance, funding opportunities and tools aimed at improving housing availability and community development statewide.
