The City of Lomita advocates for policies and funding that support our community’s priorities, protect local decision-making and strengthen City services. The City’s Legislative Platform establishes guiding principles for evaluating state, federal and regional policy matters and communicating Lomita’s positions to policymakers.
Legislative Platform
Lomita’s Legislative Platform serves as a roadmap for evaluating local, state and regional policy proposals that may directly affect our community. Reviewed routinely by the City Council, this platform ensures our legislative advocacy directly reflects the City’s core values, strategic priorities and long-term community goals.
Legislative Letters
When policy matters arise, City staff evaluate them against the principles in the Legislative Platform. If an issue aligns with Lomita’s established priorities, staff prepare an advocacy letter for review and signature by the City Manager or Mayor. Copies of all signed legislative correspondence are routinely shared with the City Council. Matters requiring further policy direction may be brought to the City Council for consideration.
Through this process, Lomita communicates the potential effects of proposed policies on our community and advocates for the resources and flexibility needed to meet local needs.
