Dear Lomita Residents,
This brief update is of ongoing infrastructure projects currently underway in Lomita.
Pacific Coast Highway Traffic Signal Improvements
Caltrans has completed installation of new traffic detection loops along Pacific Coast Highway. The yellow pavement markings currently visible mark the location of these sensors. Traffic signals along the corridor are expected to return to full synchronized operation this week. Caltrans will also complete additional roadway markings, including “Keep Clear” zones at Walnut Street, Appian Way, Lucille Avenue, Viana Avenue and Hillworth Avenue.
Street Construction Updates
Zone G – Phase 2 Street Improvements
Paving is scheduled to begin February 9 and is expected to take approximately 2 weeks, with striping planned for the final week of February. The project experienced a brief delay due to soft soil conditions on Albita Avenue, similar to those encountered during Phase 1. Crews removed the unstable soil and installed two layers of geotextile fabric to stabilize the area.
Narbonne South Infrastructure Project
All water system components – including pipes, hydrants and meters – have been installed and are operational. Caltrans will complete right-of-way connections on February 16, with paving scheduled for February 23-27.
