On November 16, the City and Lomita Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual State of the City Event in the Lomita Park Gymnasium. This year’s theme, “Lomita Looking Up,” aimed to showcase Lomita’s past achievements and bright future. A big thank you to the city’s “Team Lomita”, the Lomita Chamber of Commerce, the planning committee, volunteers, sponsors and guests for their support of the event.

The gymnasium was transformed to include booths representing various city departments and non-profit organizations, including the Lomita Historical Society, Friends of Lomita Library, LAUSD, Lomita Railroad Museum, Recreation and Facilities, Finance and City Clerk, LACoFD, Lomita Sheriff, Water Division, Public Works, Community and Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Barry Waite kicked off the event with his 2023 State of the City Address, and transitioned to updates from the various County and City departments featured.

“The City of Lomita is grateful to the Chamber of Commerce for hosting yet another remarkable State of the City,” explained Mayor Barry Waite. “We value the opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate Lomita’s milestones and its brimming future.”

The State of the City’s interactive format gave attendees the opportunity to explore the booths and learn more about the different programs and services, and mingle with other Council Members and City staff members.
