This past summer, the City of Lomita Recreation and Facilities Department brought back its Teen Program, a hands-on initiative dedicated to providing a safe and engaging environment for teenagers to learn valuable life skills and forge lasting friendships.

Spearheaded by part-time Recreation Coordinator Julissa Monge and the recreation team, the program is open to teenagers aged 11 to 14 and spans June through August including an exciting lineup of field trips and activities.

“We are thrilled about the reintroduction of the Teen Program for our younger Lomita residents,” explained Recreation Manager Emma Kelley. “The Recreation and Facilities Department is always looking for ways to enhance resident experience, and we are proud to offer a program that supports our City’s youth in nurturing their skills and talents.”

Beyond providing teens with an enjoyable summer, the program incorporates physical activity, healthy lifestyle choices and essential leadership and teamwork skills that can be used throughout their lives.

Some of the featured activities included a day at the Dodgers vs. Angels game, visits to Dave and Busters, Planet Escape Room adventures, trips to Knott’s Soak City and the popular Tuesday Night Teen nights hosted at Lomita Park. For more information on the Lomita Teen Program and to learn how to sign up next year, please visit https://lomitacity.com/teen-program/.
