As part of the City of Lomita’s strong partnership with the Lomita Sheriff’s Station Community Relations (CORE) deputies, Lomita continues to advance its effort to enhance public safety and community engagement.
The CORE deputies serve an important role in addressing quality-of-life concerns throughout the City, including code enforcement, homeless outreach, parking issues and traffic-related matters. They actively participate in community events, Parks and Recreation programs, City Council meetings and Technical and Traffic Advisory Committee (TTAC) meetings, providing valuable insight and feedback on ways to further improve resident safety and neighborhood wellbeing.
In addition to their public safety responsibilities, the CORE deputies are actively involved in Lomita’s local schools and youth programs. They regularly participate in after-school programs, Read Across America events, anti-drug education presentations, Halloween activities and other school-based initiatives that help foster positive relationships with students and families. Through these efforts, the deputies serve as mentors and role models while promoting safety, education and community engagement among Lomita’s youth.
The dedication and service from Deputy Jeremy Kellogg and Deputy Demetrius Sanchez continue to make a positive impact throughout the community. Deputy Kellogg has served as Lomita’s Community Relations Deputy for more than five years, while Deputy Sanchez is the newest addition to the CORE team, bringing years of patrol experience and community engagement to the role.
Deputy Jeremy Kellogg has been a familiar presence in Lomita for several years.. He began his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2012 at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles. During his time in custody operations, he served in several assignments: logistics, watch deputy, emergency response and custody training.
Deputy Kellogg began his patrol assignment at the Lomita Sheriff’s Station in October 2018. In 2019, he was selected to serve as the Advisor for the Lomita Explorers Program, helping mentor and guide young individuals interested in law enforcement careers.
Deputy Demetrius Sanchez has proudly served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for approximately seven years. He began his career at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility before transferring to the Lomita Sheriff’s Station. Deputy Sanchez is also a proud alumnus of Lomita STEAM Elementary School and is honored to serve the community where his educational journey began.
In addition to his patrol responsibilities, Deputy Sanchez has dedicated time to mentoring future law enforcement professionals through the Lomita Explorers Program. He has remained committed to serving the community with integrity, professionalism and dedication. Deputy Sanchez is also honored to be a recipient of the Medal of Valor.
Deputy Kellogg and Deputy Sanchez look forward to continuing to serve and work alongside the residents and staff of the City of Lomita.
