City of Lomita Founders Day Returns to Downtown Lomita
Each year, the City of Lomita eagerly anticipates our Founder’s Day celebration, which takes place on the last Saturday in June. In the past, this festive occasion was held in Downtown Lomita along Narbonne Avenue. However, it was later relocated to Lomita Park, where it coincided with the annual Fireworks show. This year, as part of our ongoing commitment to support local businesses and highlight Downtown Lomita as the heart of our community, we are thrilled to announce the return of the celebration to Narbonne Avenue. Get ready for an incredible experience with thrilling rides, entertaining games, live music, crafts and vendors, delicious dessert trucks, and endless family fun. Stay tuned for more details about the event and the vendors who will be joining us.
The festivities will take place on Saturday, June 24th, from 10am to 9:00pm and continue on Sunday, June 25th, from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Saturday promises a lively Founder’s Day Fiesta including live music all day long leading into the fireworks show at 9:00pm. Sunday, you can enjoy live music vendors and more. Please note that Narbonne Ave will be closed between Lomita Blvd. North to 242nd Street. Lomita Park will also be closed on Saturday, June 25th. Street closures will begin at 12pm on Friday to through traffic on Narbonne Ave and impacting the turning lanes on Lomita Blvd. and Narbonne. Ave south of Lomita Blvd.
Lomita Park will be open to the public on Friday although it will be fenced off throughout the weekend. The park itself will be closed Saturday and no one will be allowed onto park grounds for the safety of the community. Last year, fireworks were shot off higher than years past. This year we’re shooting them even higher!
