The City of Lomita regrets to announce the cancellation of the 2024 Monster Dash, a 5K and 10K race, as part of the Lomita’s 60th Anniversary lineup of events. The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 26 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., was expected to feature a race and walk through of the City streets, ending at City Hall.
Following an in-depth review of the logistics and resources required in order to provide a safe and successful event, and after consulting with traffic engineers regarding street closures, City officials determined that holding the event as planned is not feasible. To ensure the safety of participants and motorists, the race would have required full closures of major arterial and residential roadways in Lomita. Consequently, the projected closures would have impacted dozens of businesses and hundreds of residents.
Those who have already registered will be contacted by the City regarding a refund.
It is the City’s priority to provide a safe and wholesome environment for everyone to enjoy. The City is actively exploring event alternatives and will provide updates as they become available.
