2nd Annual Halloween Home Decorating Contest
Oct. 10 – 24
Show off your spooky spirit by decorating your home or yard! To enter, email a photo along with your name and address to Communications@LomitaCity.com. Entries must be from Lomita residents. Custom lawn signs will be awarded to the best-decorated homes.
Halloween in the Park
Friday, Oct. 31 | 5 – 8 p.m. | Lomita Park
Celebrate Halloween with games, music, costumes, and plenty of treats at this safe and fun community gathering. The costume contest will be kicking-off at 6 p.m.
Railroad Museum
Friday, Oct. 31 | 6 – 9 p.m. | Lomita Railroad Museum
The Lomita Railroad Museum staff invites you to the “The Curse of the Red Caboose.” This spine-chilling walkthrough horror attraction will be open for one night only and admission is free.
This experience is recommended for ages 13 and older due to subject matter that may be frightening for young children.
Veterans Day Ceremony
Tuesday, Nov. 11 | 11 a.m. | Veterans Park
Join us in honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans during this heartfelt community ceremony, featuring keynote speaker Sergeant Jeff Velasco from the Lomita Sheriff’s Station.
2025 State of the City
Thursday, Nov. 13 | 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Tom Rico Center
Mayor Mark Waronek, along with City leadership, will share an update on Lomita’s progress, highlight recent accomplishments, and outline future priorities focused on growth, infrastructure and enhancing quality of life for the community.

Spread the holiday cheer by lighting up your home or yard! Send a photo, your name and address to Communications@LomitaCity.com. Participants must live in Lomita. Winners will receive custom lawn signs to showcase their holiday spirit.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
Friday, Dec. 5 | 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. | Downtown Lomita
Kick off the holiday season with festive performances, family activities and the lighting of Lomita’s holiday tree. Santa will be here to help start the celebration, kicking off his visits around town!
Santa at the Museum
Sunday, Dec. 7 | 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. | Lomita Railroad Museum
Families are invited to meet Santa, take photos and enjoy holiday crafts at this beloved annual tradition.
Shop Local & Support Lomita
This holiday season, shop local – whether picking up unique gifts from neighborhood businesses or stopping by City Hall to purchase Lomita merchandise. Shopping local not only shows your community pride but also supports small businesses and strengthens Lomita’s economy.
Holiday Tree Collection & Recycling
After the holidays, the City will provide convenient holiday tree collection and recycling services. Simply place your tree next to your trash bins on your regular collection day for environmentally friendly disposal.
