The City of Lomita is excited to share the success of the Lomita Sports Voucher Pass Program, made possible through the $10,000 raised at the 2025 Mayor’s Golf Tournament! Thanks to this initiative, 120 local residents have already registered for the 2025 fall co-ed youth volleyball and flag football leagues — paying just $10 each after applying a $45 voucher toward the $55 registration fee.

A Positive Impact on Families

Half of the tournament proceeds – $5,000 – was dedicated to funding the first 120 Sports Voucher Passes, making youth sports more accessible and affordable for local families. The program underscores the City’s commitment to ensuring that all Lomita children have the chance to experience the fun, teamwork and personal growth that come with youth athletics.

Investing in Youth Sports Equipment

The remaining $5,000 raised is being invested in new equipment to support Lomita’s youth sports programs. These purchases ensure that every Lomita team has the resources they need for a safe, successful and enjoyable season. The new equipment includes:

  • 20 Volleyballs
  • 7 Volleyball Scorebooks
  • 1 Outdoor Volleyball Court (Complete with poles, net, and 6 balls)
  • 2 Youth-Sized Footballs
  • 8 Pee Wee-Sized Footballs
  • 3 Football Penalty Flags
  • 1 Ball Cart
  • 2 Indoor Basketballs (28.5 Size)

A Big Thank You to Our Community

The success of the 2025 Mayor’s Golf Tournament was made possible through the generosity of local residents, businesses, and City partners such as Athens, Transtech and members of the City Council.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this possible,” said Mayor Mark Waronek. “With your support, we are able to continue investing in Lomita’s youth and give them more opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive through sports.”
